The Dimensions of Human Life:
How to Balance Body, Mind and Spirit Body, Mind and Spirit in the Journey to a Full and Balanced Life. Have you ever heard that we are made of body, soul (mind) and spirit? But how does this human complexity work exactly? Understanding these dimensions of human life is fundamental to achieve a balanced and full life, and to unveil the path of Long and Prosperous Life that we seek through the integral development of the human being. The Physical Body: Our Temple and Foundation of Vitality It is our material structure, where vital processes such as breathing, circulation and nutrition reside. It is in it that growth, regeneration and, eventually, physical decline occur. Our nutrition, the practice of exercises or sedentary lifestyle exert great influence over this dimension of the integral human being. It is here that most illnesses and pains manifest, and where conscious care with what we eat and how we move is crucial to maintain the balance between body, mind and spirit. The Soul (Mind): The Center of Our Emotions and Thoughts This dimension encompasses our thoughts, feelings, emotions and desires. It is here that we experience love, hate, hope, frustrations, ambitions and wills. Aspects such as relationships, finances, leisure and self-development significantly impact our mental and emotional health. Any imbalance in these aspects diminishes our vitality and inner strength. It is in the soul that we have thinking, feeling and willing, shaping our personality and self-consciousness for a full life. The Spirit (Self): Our Essence, Purpose and Greater Connection It is the spiritual component of the human being, where we find factors such as our life mission, vocation, values and personal philosophy. Acting upon the Self are the so-called spiritual impulses, which connect us to a greater life purpose and drive us to seek meaning and fulfillment. The absence of reflection on the Self and its components can lead to inertia and passivity, emptying our being and inhibiting most achievements of great value. It is in the spirit that we have the consciousness of God and the capacity to understand and worship Him. The different views on body, soul and spirit, whether anthroposophical or Christian, converge to the same truth: we are integral beings. In our proposal to build a long, healthy, prosperous and purposeful life, it is fundamental that this occurs in the three dimensions of human life. They are three parts of a single integral human being, and in the next steps, we will understand in a practical way how these areas unite and what actions we can define for each one of them, guiding you to be rich, happy and "immortal".
